A leading Ambient FMCG food manufacturer is currently seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join their team, responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of Health, safety and environment.
Responsibilities include:
· Work with H&S professionals in customer organisations in a collaborative way to co ordinate all types of risk assessment activity i.e. manual handling, DSE, COSHH, asbestos, work equipment etc
· Promote awareness of all relevant health and safety legislation across the site
· Advise management team on compliance with Health and Safety and Environmental legislation; promoting a pragmatic approach to the managing thereof.
· Manage a team of two
· Work closely with engineering in the design of appropriate future facilities
· Ensure all accidents incidents and dangerous occurrences are investigated thoroughly and followed through to establish route cause, contributory factors and preventative actions.
· Coordinate H&S training activity ensuring competency to management regulations
· Implement and partake in regular safety tours, audits, and inspections
· Maintain management focus and continuing development of the H& S Management system
· Maintain and develop good relations with the internal and external customers including official bodies such as HSE and fire authorities
· Responsible for managing site environmental factors including outsourced activity e.g. waste
· Ownership for delivery of departmental metrics
· Chair site H&S committee, and ensure H&S participate in all local safety committee meetings
You will be NEBOSHH diploma part 2 qualified or equivalent with H&S management experience within a FMCG or Pharmaceutical environment. Chartered Health and Safety practitioner will be deemed advantageous. You will have an excellent knowledge of COSHH inc risk substances.
