Job Description

Role Title:
SENIOR PACKAGING DEVELOPMENT TECHNOLOGIST.
Reporting To:
TECHNICAL PACKAGING DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Role Purpose: 1. To execute and manage innovative ideas presented by suppliers and accepted by marketing
2. To follow Test Protocol & Package Test Protocol, plus have approved Pilot line trials for all new items.
3. Through TPD / Factory meeting review new designs to ensure most efficient processes are used.
4. To make available “Approved” Component and Finished goods specifications, and have transparent records of Compatibility testing.
5. To work with the factory and marketing to have a programme of rational format reduction.
Identify personal needs for training, and identify resource to satisfy this need.

Key Accountabilities Key Elements
Define Technical & Quality Parameters.
Support supplier R&D meetings. Manage individual projects where an opportunity has been accepted.
To bring to the attention of management any problems,

• Ensure that all quality expectations are met in terms of functionality, PTP requirements, and cost in as much that cost does not compromise performance.

• Ensure that all TPD issues are communicated effectively, and that the latest technologies are use as an aid to communication (3D models).

• Provide technical briefs at Pre MAF stage as a means for marketing to confirm pack specification and as a tool for purchasing to carry out feasibility costing.

• To expedite format reduction where agreed with marketing.

• To continuously challenge suppliers to improve methods and innovate with new technologies.

Scope • Primary/secondary/tertiary Packing Materials of regular goods/sampling materials
• Applied to specific projects within sphere of ownership.

Key Performance Indicators. • All launches Right the First Time – On time with quality/cost that meets all agreed upon specifications.
• Identify how many formats exist today and then REDUCE the number of different formats that exist in your sphere of influence.


COMPETENCIES

Necessary role related knowledge, skills and experience at selection
• Educated to HNC / Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Packaging/Science
• Experience in or knowledge of injection moulding.
• IT literate in word Excel, MS project.
• Knowledge of machinery used in the filling of cosmetic componentry.
• A second language would be beneficial.
• A successful applicant will be able to demonstrate or show how they would achieve the following: -

Salary: to £42k basic + benefits
Early finish on Fridays (1.30pm)
