Global Food Manufacturer/Supplier

Our clienthas an annual turnover in excess of &£200m & employs approx 2,500 staff over 6 sites in the UK. Production has increased to cover various food products, manufacturing for all the major UK retailers to include Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Waitrose, Morrisons & Iceland.

A highly successful & ever expanding business, our client is looking to recruit Packaging Specialists at senior PDT/management & PDT levels, supported by the existing team, purchasing, QA & manufacturing.

Predominantly an NPD/packaging innovation role, you will be responsible for development, innovation & sourcing of new packaging technologies/formats for all food products/brands, working in collaboration with Brand & Marketing Managers, Buyers & Selectors of the named supermarket head offices.


Main Purpose of Job

Reporting to the Purchasing Director

To execute the packaging development process for the implementation of change throughout an extensive range of food categories

Key Accountabilities

1. To implement new packaging processes and packs for factory units in delivering the Company/Customer product development programme

2. To manage the work programme agreed within the department

3. To accurately maintain information systems, particularly packaging specifications.

4. To be the key leader/manager of new packaging development projects.


Skills/Experience/Qualifications Required


1. Technical Degree/HND qualification. Good experience of packaging materials and processes gained within food or fmcg environment. IOP diploma preferred.

2. Technical knowledge and experience of all packaging formats to include flexibles, vac forming, carton technology, plastics, thermoformed trays, labelling, shrink sleeving, repro/artwork.

3. Excellent team, communication, organisational, presentation and project management skills.

4. Analytical/problem solving and creative skills.

5. Strong commercial skills

6. Computer literacy/database management
