Supporting the Packaging Development Manager & Category Managers in the development, sourcing and production of all Own Brand packaging covering all categories i.e home, gift, fashion,electrical, skincare. The role requires a packaging specialist with environmental awareness/experience to take control of implementing the WRAP guidelines, manage projects to target packaging reductons & lightweighting across the business
Develop and maintains database of packaging suppliers, their equipment and services to utilise most appropriate suppliers.
To assist the implementation of rationalised supply base and maximise packaging supplier performance. Supports ongoing development and implementation of digital artwork, asset management and work-flow systems and processes.
Operational Support.
Works closely with the Packaging Development and Production Manager to input functional packaging information and technical specifications at the appropriate project stages. From artwork manages production of all Own Brand packaging.
Financial Responsibility
Assists in monitoring of cost control for existing and new Own Brand packaging, pre-costing and reviewing packaging projects in terms of digital artwork, repro and unit pack price to ensure that the costs are delivered within budget.
Communication
Clearly communicates to Own Brand Managers on current progress and issues relating to packaging projects. Act as a principal point of contact for them in the Own Brand packaging team to ensure that projects are managed and controlled to one agreed central development process. Liaises with Buying departments and graphic designers as required.
External Research
Keeps abreast of all packaging innovation in the industry and uses any opportunity to exploit packaging technologies and processes that may add value to the business.
